The availability of high-quality, easy-to-use, full-featured drivers is a crucial consideration when selecting which sensor to use in an IoT product. ECMA-41 the JavaScript embedded systems API standard helps by defining standard sensor APIs for embedded developers. By providing ECMA-419-compatible sensor driver modules and documentation, sensor manufacturers can drive the adoption of their products. Developers can easily incorporate new ECMA-419 drivers into projects, accessing the differentiating capabilities of each component with the flexible extensibility of JavaScript. The ECMA-419 Class Specifications for Embedded Hardware Components repository hosts JavaScript class definitions for specific parts, acting as a marketplace of drivers for product designers. This talk will explain how to write ECMA-419-conformant sensor drivers and distribute them in the ECMA-419 repository.
